    As part of our expanding BMW product range, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch the direct replacement aluminium under tray for the BMW F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4 models. The solution to creating a direct replacement under tray in aluminium began with a full 3D scan of the vehicle’s underside to ensure a perfect fitment that reuses all original mounting points. As a result, it requires no drilling or cutting and is completely reversible if required.  Designed to work with the AIRTEC Motorsport larger capacity oil cooler, which when fitted in place with the original plastic under tray causes to bow outwards due to the oil cooler’s larger size and the BMW under tray’s weak construction. Our direct replacement under tray is made from 2mm aluminium to ensure durability and has also been designed to accommodate the larger dimensions of the AIRTEC Motorsport oil cooler. The product also comes with pre-cut rubber trims to seal the under tray and ensure the cooling effectiveness with the options of a larger rubber trim for the original oil cooler or a smaller rubber trim for the AIRTEC Motorsport oil cooler both inside the box. It has also been designed to work with the AIRTEC Motorsport GTS-style aero under tray pan to create a comprehensive under tray package.  Finished in a high-quality black powder coat finish, the under tray offers improved protection, durability and cooling effectiveness. Please note: The under tray uses existing mounting points – but it is essential the fixings you use to secure it are of good quality. The original BMW fittings should only be used if they’re in good condition. When modifying these cars to increase power and torque, an unavoidable by-product is the additional heat level that’s transferred to the car’s cooling system. During sustained hard use, this can become a substantial issue, as coolant temperatures can increase enough to trigger the ECU’s safety features, reducing torque or even putting the car into a limp mode. As a result, we wanted to address the car’s entire cooling system, which included introducing extra venting to improve air flow within the engine bay. Our solution to creating a direct replacement under tray in 2mm aluminium began with a full 3D scan of the vehicle’s underside to ensure a perfect fitment. As a result, it reuses all original mounting points with new stronger fixings supplied, offering improved strength and protection for the underside of the car. More importantly, the large functional vents actively help to pull warm air from the back of the radiator, down under the engine and into the low-pressure area of the car below the under tray. This effectively creates an increased flow path within the engine bay to transfer heat out, helping to reduce engine running temperatures. Designed to work on a standard car or even more effectively in conjunction with our soon to be released AIRTEC Motorsport gearbox cooler, the under tray is finished in a high-quality black powder coat finish, offering improved cooling effectiveness as well as strength and durability. What does an under tray do?The under tray has three main purposes: to protect the underside of the vehicle from foreign objects flicking up and causing damage or accelerated wear. Secondly, to improve aerodynamics by creating a low pressure area as air accelerates past its smooth surface. This reduces drag, which works towards improving grip, handling as well as fuel efficiency. Lastly, on performance models, the under tray often provides increased cooling by either venting cold air to, or extracting warm air from the engine bay. Therefore improving the strength, design, size and cooling effect can offer fantastic benefits. This is particularly prevalent with the EcoBoost engine, which can be known for poor reliability without good preventative maintenance.   AIRTEC Motorsport’s solution to developing a catch can kit specifically for the Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Mk7 model utilises the heat shield from our AIRTEC Motorsport Stage 2 induction kit to attach the mounting bracket. The IssueThe original under tray on Gen 1 cars features no venting at all and is made from a weak fibre material construction which will be prone to failure over time. Gen 2 cars feature a plastic under tray but with a small single vent for the transfer case alone.  ConstructionOur solution to creating a direct replacement under tray began with a full 3D scan of the vehicle’s underside to ensure a perfect fitment that reuses all original mounting points and fixings. Made in 2mm aluminium and finished in a high-quality black powder coat, our under tray offers an enhanced level of protection to the underside of the car but more importantly, the design has also been carefully considered to ensure improved cooling and air flow to the vital transmission components.  CoolingWhilst the Gen 1 under trays feature no cooling at all, the Gen 2 under trays feature a basic duct for the transfer case at the rear, as clearly Toyota see this as an area that requires cooling. The AIRTEC Motorsport under tray therefore utilises a much larger scoop for the rear to force more air flow and offer better cooling. It also features a built in gearbox cooling duct, together with a venting section behind it to create air flow to and from the transmission and reduce temperatures. The comprehensive design also features rear ventilation to allow heat to exit the undertray together with side vents to further improve air flow.     Following an extensive development process by our in-house design engineer team, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch our new rear wing kit for the BMW F22/F23 2-Series/F87 M2, suited to track or fast road use.  Several designs and variations were tried before we settled on this particular design, which has been designed to allow the car’s existing laminar flow to direct clean air under the aerofoil blade to produce a low pressure area, which will increase rear downforce and therefore stability at speed. The DevelopmentEager to create an unrivalled product in this segment, we began with a 3D scan of the boot lid so we could design a CNC bracket that’s mounting surface followed the gentle curvature of the boot lid. This was to ensure that when the bracket was fully tightened down it would not deform the boot lid, as you see in some cars fitted with these kinds of spoilers. We also chose to mount the bracket in an area that is double skinned for additional rigidity.  After trying other aerofoils, we also chose to develop a new longer aerofoil blade solely for this application.  The DesignWe made the decision early on to create end plates that would also serve as the uprights to mount the spoiler. This clever design allows the entire width of the aerofoil to work more efficiently, as all of the air passing under it is completely undisturbed, which is not possible with centre mounted uprights. The end plates are also adjustable to suit a preferred set up.  Whilst the wing design ensures its as wide as possible to allow as much clean air underneath it, it does not exceed past the car’s width or height dimensions to adhere to Nürburgring Regulations and Motorsport Blue Book Regulations. It’s also been designed to work with the original BMW lip spoiler (not pictured here). The mounting brackets are secured to the boot lid using six M6 bolts and once fitted, the fittings are all hidden from outside view. Please note: this does require drilling to the boot lid. The kit features laser cut uprights in 3mm steel to ensure rigidity and are finished in a high-quality, satin black powder coat.       As part of our expanding Toyota product range, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch our inlet manifold upgrade aimed at modified Yaris GR owners who want to further improve the performance of their cars for track or fast road use. The DesignWe wanted to develop a manifold with an improved design to allow more flow, whilst introducing longer inlet runners to help produce more power at lower engine speed. We also wanted to incorporate a design that increased air flow balance across the three cylinders. Crucially, we were also determined to create a true direct replacement manifold that required no further modifications, such as custom fabrication or a costly aftermarket ECU. After a thorough development process that saw us simulate and test several different designs, the result is a manifold unlike any other on the market. Tested – Increased and Balanced FlowOur freer-flowing design measured an improvement in flow of 36% in comparison to the original. Furthermore, by flow testing the original manifold and using runner number two as the benchmark, our test data revealed runner number one flowed a 13% difference on average whilst runner number three flowed an 11% difference on average.In direct comparison, the same test conducted on our AIRTEC Motorsport manifold revealed a difference of just 2% on runner number one and only 4% on runner number three, therefore providing much more equal balance across the cylinders, which is crucial for safe and efficient fuelling as well as consistent power and torque. Direct Replacement Fit We also completed our secondary goal of ensuring the manifold was a true direct replacement by utilising the original throttle body and pipework. The manifold also includes moulded fixing tabs to secure the coolant lines and wiring loom, which secure in place as per the original. Lastly, the manifold allows the original rubber gaskets to transfer over for a simple and easy installation process. If you have an AIRTEC Motorsport catch can fitted, please choose from the drop down menu, as the breather fittings require different take offs.Please note: the manifold has been designed to also allow a larger 54mm throttle body to fit if preferred, but this will require additional works to the boost pipework and ECU. The IssueThe original BMW arch liners feature a vented section to allow air to escape from the front bumper. However, this section has very little clearance to the tyre when turning, which is acceptable for a standard car, but when modified with lowered suspension, larger tyres or even simple wheel spacers, it causes the tyre to make contact with the vented section and instantly damages it. The plastic fins can then break off and these can also damage the tyre. The SolutionSimple yet effective, our design team developed replacement grilles that can be fitted to the arch liner to provide the necessary extra clearance. Tested on a lowered car with larger tyres, these grilles still ensure large debris cannot pass through whilst allowing air to escape from the front bumper.
